Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the PTA?
The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) is a volunteer organization that brings together parents, teachers, and school staff to support and enhance students’ educational experiences.
2. What does the PTA do?
The PTA organizes events, fundraisers, and programs to support school activities, advocate for students’ needs, and strengthen the school community.
3. How much time do I need to commit?
There’s no set time commitment. You can participate as much or as little as your schedule allows, whether it's attending meetings, volunteering for events, or helping with projects.
4. Are PTA Association meetings open to everyone?
Yes, PTA meetings are open to all members and interested parents. Your attendance and input are always welcome.
5. What if I’m not able to attend every meeting or event?
Your involvement is valuable regardless of attendance. You can participate in whatever fits your schedule and still make a significant impact.
6. How much of my membership contribution goes to the Grant School PTA?
Our PTA dues require a small portion of every membership be contributed to the National PTA ($2.25), CA PTA ($2.00), and the 14th District PTA ($0.50). That equates to a total of $4.75 of every membership that supports the PTA organization itself and the rest directly supports the Grant PTA.
7. Why do I have to be a PTA member to see certain pages on this website?
For privacy reasons, our website attempts to keep information with dates, locations, times, and volunteer names restricted to PTA members to ensure those with access are part of the Grant school community. All events and volunteer sign-ups can also be found in the Shamrock News.
If I join, do I have to...
Go to meetings?
No. You are welcome to attend our general meetings though.
Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?
Nope! Joining the PTA is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer we would LOVE the help—but volunteering is not required.
